Lunches of Love is a community outreach program designed to bring the love of Christ to children and their families by providing a nutritious sack lunch to low income children and their siblings (18 years and younger). In Rosenberg, a large percentage (more than 85 percent) of our children are on free and reduced lunches during the school year. Most of these children would go hungry during extended school holidays without Lunches of Love. Our program operates Monday-Friday during Christmas break, spring break and summer vacation.

During Christmas break 2009 we launched our program at Bowie Elementary. During those two weeks we fed approximately 150 children daily. Our program grew during spring break 2010 when we fed more than 320 children daily. In the summer of 2010, we expanded our program, and offered Lunches of Love to Jackson Elementary as well as Bowie Elementary. We fed approximately 500 children each weekday.

In the first year of the program, the enrollment in Lunches of Love more than doubled. During the summer of 2011, we averaged more than 1,100 lunches a day. All Summer Long! This would not have been possible without all the support from our volunteers and many local businesses and individuals whose financial contributions made it all possible.

Sack Lunch:

Main entrée (sandwich, hot dog or wrap)
Goldfish, crackers or pretzels
Fruit, yogurt or jello
Water or juice

VOLUNTEERS

You may sign up once, weekly or as often as you would like.

This is a wonderful ministry to participate in; we have enriched the lives of the students and their families we have helped as well as all our volunteers. We are making a difference in our community. We welcome local business, organizations, groups, troops and friends to come be a part of a growing community outreach program.
