Our History
A Rich Heritage
First United Methodist Church of Rosenberg was established in 1892 when the people of the area needed a place to worship God together. The church was founded as the Methodist Episcopal Church South in Rosenberg. Our church has been meeting continually since that time. We have had different locations and our name has changed with the mergers of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1939 to become the Methodist Church and again in 1968 when the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren joined to become the United Methodist Church. However, through different locations and different names, two things have remained the same: our devotion to Jesus Christ and our tireless efforts to make a difference in the lives of both the members of our church and those people outside our walls.
